Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3)

There are over 11 million survivors alive today, thanks to advancements in screening tools, treatment medications, and better knowledge about prevention. But too many people still hear the words €œYou have cancer€. This May 19th, you have the chance to personally make a difference in the future of the fight against cancer.

The American Cancer Society will be enrolling participants in their newest research study, the Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3) at various locations in Ulster and Dutchess County and they will be at the 12th Annual Women's Health & Fitness Expo with more information.

Who can enroll?

Individuals between the ages of 30-65, with no personal history of cancer (except for basal or squamous cell skin cancers) and who are willing to make a long term commitment to the study.

What'€™s involved?

Step 1 €“ Register for an enrollment appointment at www.cps3hudsonvalley.org

Step 2 €“ Prior to your appointment, fill out the survey emailed to you about your health history. Don€™t forget to print out the final confirmation page and bring it with you to your enrollment appointment!

Step 3 €“ At your appointment, you will complete a brief survey, provide a waist circumference measurement and provide a small blood sample (7 teaspoons in total), taken by a certified, trained phlebotomist.

Step 4 €“ Every 2 -€“ 3 years, you will be sent a brief follow up survey to complete and return.
If you are unable to enroll or want to do more, join us as a volunteer or advocate for the Study!

Volunteer! We have 4 enrollment locations over the course of the 6 days and we are looking for volunteers in 4 hour time blocks to help with registration.

Spread the word! Tell all your friends and family and encourage them to participate in the study to help us end cancer.

Cover the town! Work in a busy office? Have a favorite restaurant you frequent? Are you often at the Library? We have posters, brochures, table tent cards, and more to promote the study. We would be glad to mail you information to help us promote this event all over the Hudson Valley.
