Main Stage Cook-Off
There’s no reason cooking competitions have to stay on Food Network—and who said they couldn’t be healthy? That’s why we’re bringing in three local chefs to go head-to-head in our Slam Down Heart Healthy Cooking Challenge. Moderated by Bruce Paley, executive chef of the Bowery Dugout, our chefs will use locally grown ingredients to cook a meal using only an electric frying pan and butane burner. And did we mention they’d be timed?
Competing will be Ed Carpino of Sysco Food Services, Alphonse Squillante of Canoe Hill Vineyard and Luis Cruz of the Bowery Dugout.
The chefs will have to cook not only using limited resources but also in a pop-up kitchen with only five minutes to gather their ingredients and twenty minutes to cook their meals. Once time runs out, chefs will present their meal to a panel of judges and a winner will be chosen based on quality, taste and presentation. Bon appetite!
