The Heart- Gum Disease Connection
Presented by Victor Zeines, DDS
This workshop will go over simple ways you can keep yourself healthy, as well as ways to treat periodontal disease using nutrition and laser therapy. Tongue assessment, acupuncture and other therapies will be discussed along with the following causes of dental problems:
- Not getting the proper nutrients in your diet, resulting in an acidic environment in the mouth.
- Not properly absorbing nutrients.
- Excessive stress which can cause a rapid depletion of the body's minerals.
- Hormonal imbalances. If the imbalance is due to an illness, some glands may not be functioning properly, mineral deficiencies can be the result.
Dr. Zeines has been practicing Holistic Dentistry for the past 25 years. He received his degree from N.Y.U. College of Dentistry and completed an internship at the Eastman Dental Center in Rochester New York. In 1980, he received a Masters in Science (Nutrition) from the University of Bridgeport, Bridgeport, Connecticut. He received Fellowship Status from the Academy of General Dentistry in 1982.

Unemployment Stress: How to Manage your Money, your Marriage and your Kids
Presented by Rebecca Rooney and Joy Dryer
Recognizing that the United States has our highest unemployment rate in years, this seminar is designed to assist the unemployed and the underemployed to develop, understand and implement strategies to manage their lives in a healthy and productive way, despite the economic stress.
Money management includes topics such as assessing assets, budgeting for hard times, creative financing, and ways to stretch scarce dollars. Marital Stress can be reduced by couples using collaborative and cooperative strategies to reduce anxiety and maintain connection and balance. Helping children through the family changes inherent in a period of parental unemployment involves ways to assure support and consistency, encourage positive attitudes, and create leisure and social opportunities despite tight finances.
Parenting: The Hardest Job You'll Ever Have
Presented by Joy Dryer, Ph.D.
Listening and talking is key to a healthy connection between you and your kids. It's hard work, especially with your teen. This workshop focuses on listening and focusing on values and principles and not on rules and regulations.
- Be available to your kids. When are they most likely to talk? (bedtime? in the car?)
- Learn about/show interest in your kids' interests. You start the conversation.
- Show your kids you're listening in a way THEY can hear. Focus on their feelings, not on your reaction(s).
- Let your kids learn by making their own mistakes.
- Focus on principles, such as truth over harmony.
This workshop will encourage interactive exercises among the participants facilitated by Dr. Dryer who has consulted with schools, parents, and their children.
